Personal Statement

As the first person in my family to join the legal profession, I have gained access to a world that I never knew about before, which has made the work that I do in the firm much more meaningful and engaging. I believe my role as a legal assistant greatly contributes to the overall success of the firm as I support my attorney to ensure fairness and justice for our clients.

Helping people has always been something I liked to do, and I feel the reassurance and guidance we give our clients through these difficult times is some of the best work one can do for someone. In my undergrad experience, I worked for our Center for Career and Professional Development. We offered services to students to help build their resumes or create cover letters. Constantly, we were witnesses to how invaluable our services were with so many students receiving offers from their respective jobs. In many ways, the work we do at the firm is designed to produce similar results, we want our clients at the end of our services to be presented with the best outcome.

There are many professions where your job is to aid people, but in the criminal defense world our work is so much more than that. People are entrusting their lives to us, and I believe that alone drives us to work that much harder.  Aiding people through challenging times and seeing the amazing results at the end has been a long-term goal of mine, and I feel I am able accomplish that goal here at the firm.

Questions for Regina

I talked with many alumni from my school who were lawyers and attended various workshops for careers. When I received an internship at DLA Piper for the summer of 2017, I knew I had found my passion. I had a great experience there and it led me to pursue a career in the legal profession with hopes of obtaining a J.D. myself one day and becoming a practicing attorney.

I thoroughly enjoy helping people as much as we do. I love getting to talk to our clients constantly, so I can share updates on their cases and ease their worry throughout this process.

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of symmetry between the courts, and it can get frustrating dealing with the differences across the courts.

To be reassured that they have landed in good hands here at the Gallian firm and although this is bound to be a challenging time, they have put their trust in the right people.
